March 20-22: The Palmetto Quilt Guild Inc., 15th biennial Quilt Festival 2020 to be held at Hilton Head Beach & Tennis Resort, 40 Folly Field Rd. Festival times are Friday and Saturday 10 a.m.–5 p.m. Sunday 10 a.m.–3 p.m. A display of more than 150 quilts to be judged by nationally-certified judge, Diane (De) Leclair. The festival will host a boutique of handcrafted items, a vintage marketplace, basket raffle, scissor sharpening and 14 vendors offering visitors an array of shopping opportunities. “This is an extraordinary event held on Hilton Head Island,” Lana Armstrong, Quilt Festival Chairman, “Our 2020 Raffle Quilt, Island Compass, was made by 11 Guild members, and highlights paper piecing techniques. It will be awarded to the lucky winner on the third day of the show.” Tickets for this year’s raffle quilt are available on the website (www.palmettoquiltguild.org) and are $2 each or 3 tickets for $5. The winner need not be present. Admission to the show is $10 for a multi-day admission and is payable at the door. Attendees under 18 years old are free. The Palmetto Quilt Guild meets the third Thursday of each month, except August and November, and December and hosts nationally-known speakers and workshops. The Guild’s Community Service projects donate hundreds of handmade quilts each year to local charities, and the Outreach Program provides wheelchair bags, memory mats and lap quilts to veterans, retirement communities, and schools. The Palmetto Quilt Guild, Inc. is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) corporation formed with a mission to promote and preserve the art of quilting. We have approximately 150 members from Hilton Head Island, Bluffton, Beaufort, Savannah and the Lowcountry, as well as part-time residents from throughout the United States.
