April 2, 2018 RE: Mock Trial Competition The Solicitor’s Office needs your help. As a community organization dedicated to giving back and one that promotes civic duty, we hope you’ll help the 14th Circuit Solicitor’s Office promote its Mock Trial Competition. We are looking for volunteer jurors to help prepare the next generation of prosecutors for the rigors of the courtroom. The competition will look, feel and be treated like a regular General Sessions term of court. Just like a real jury, we seek a diverse and varied jury pool. Mock jurors will hear opening and closing arguments from the State and defense counsels, listen to the presentation of evidence and receive information from the judge before deliberations begin. Then, you will be asked to deliver a verdict. The competition will begin Monday, April 30, 2018, here at our new headquarters in Okatie, SC. Mock court sessions will last approximately four hours each. Community volunteers can sign up for as few as one four-hour time slot or for all seven. Any contribution will be appreciated. To learn more, or to sign up, call the 14th Circuit Solicitor’s Office at (843) 790-6453 or email Communications Officer Erinn McGuire at firstname.lastname@example.org.
