About Us

The Toomer Family has been harvesting our local waters since 1913 and have operated the state’s last remaining, hand-shucked, oyster operation for over 25 years. This type of livelihood is a dying industry but keeping the business alive and successful is the Toomer Family’s main goal in life. Not just for their family, but for everyone involved in keeping both businesses operating. The Bluffton Oyster Company, located on the bank of the May River, is one of the town’s most popular historical landmarks. “Bluffton Oyster” as it is referred to by locals, is one of the best spots to view the river and purchase fresh local seafood.

For the Toomer Family, opening the Bluffton Seafood House was the natural “next step”. For 9 years, they have offered their fresh, local seafood in this family restaurant environment.
