  • ABOUT BLUFFTON ABOUT BLUFFTON

Once a sleepy, unknown town, serving as the gateway to Hilton Head Island, Bluffton has made a name for itself branded as a "state of mind" for many of its locals.  Nestled between Beaufort, SC and Savannah, GA, Bluffton is surrounded by three rivers (May River, Colleton River, and the Okatie River) which are just off of the Intracoastal Waterway.  Following the Civil War, Bluffton was known as the "Hub of Commerce" with history repeating itself and is now deemed the "Heart of the Lowcountry."

Whether looking to visit the Church of the Cross, browse through the Old Town shops, eclectic galleries, and eateries,  or capture a glistening sunset over the May River, Bluffton is full of charm and rich character, surrounded by captivating live oaks and preserved history.

Throughout the year, Bluffton is home to the Boiled Peanut Festival, Historic Arts & Seafood Festival, MayFest, Summer Sunset Parties, and Taste of Bluffton, among many other celebrations.  As you can see, Bluffton provides unique opportunities for all ages to enjoy.  We hope that you will come and join us to experience the Bluffton "state of mind."

Those looking to learn more about the unique history of Bluffton, SC or go on a walking tour are invited to visit The Heyward House, the town's official Welcome Center and Museum.
