Slippage and Structure: A Two-Person Art Exhibition Opening in Bluffton, SC

Bluffton, SC ? EMROSE projects proudly presents Slippage and Structure, a two-person art exhibition featuring works by Keith Crowley of Sarasota, FL, and Emma Barnes of Beaufort, SC. Curated by Maria Hooper of EMROSE projects, the exhibition explores memory, place, and identity through innovative uses of materiality, pattern, and form. The opening reception will be held on Thursday, February 6, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Coastal Lighting Studio, 53 Persimmon St, Suite 101, Bluffton, SC. The exhibition will remain open by appointment from February 7 through April 30, 2025.

Keith Crowley?s art captures the geometry and rhythm of suburban architecture, transforming fleeting moments of light and shadow into richly textured paintings that evoke the emotional resonance of home. Emma Barnes draws from quilt patterns and southern traditions to create layered works that blend oil paint, plaster, and photographic imagery. Together, their art highlights the role of pattern as a bridge between personal and cultural narratives.

About the Artists:

Keith Crowley (Sarasota, FL) is known for his textured paintings inspired by architectural patterns and light. His work has been exhibited in venues such as the Tampa Museum of Art and the University of South Florida Contemporary Art Museum. Crowley earned his MFA in Painting from SCAD.

Emma Barnes (Beaufort, SC) integrates southern traditions with contemporary practices, creating art that reflects layered memories and landscapes. A graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University and Alfred University?s MFA program, Barnes exhibits her work nationally and teaches in South Carolina.
