    Community Outreach and Development Support Specialist
     
    The Community Outreach and Development Support Specialist supports the organization’s growth and engagement efforts, primarily through content creation, communication, and design. This role requires strong communication, design, and organization skills, as well as the ability to multitask and work collaboratively across departments.
     
    Key responsibilities include:
     
    1. Content Creation and Design: Create and manage content for both social and traditional media. Design and produce promotional materials including videos, newsletters, social media posts, print materials, articles, etc. that align with the organization’s branding and outreach goals. 
    • Visual & Written Content: Creating content that aligns with our brand, and publishing throughout our channels (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, etc.).
    • Strategy Development: Planning and scheduling content to ensure a consistent posting rhythm.
    • Campaign Ideation: Brainstorming and executing thematic campaigns that align with promotional cycles, holidays, or trends.
    • Audience Engagement: Respond to comments, messages, mentions, polls, and Q&A (etc.) promptly to foster a sense of community; Demonstrates goal setting with a focus on growing and strengthening the platforms.
    • Analytics & Reporting: Track and measure performance; adjust strategies as needed.
    • Collaboration: Working with other staff to accomplish content strategies.
    2. Fundraising and Event Support: Assist the Development Director with fundraising events and campaigns/appeals, with coordinating communications, print/social media, and helping with event planning and execution.
    3. Community Engagement: Communicate the organization’s mission and services to the public through speaking engagements and outreach efforts. Build and maintain relationships with community media partners for greater visibility. Maintain a portfolio of community partners in a designated geography using a relationship sales approach to grow the Organization’s program reach. Expand collaborative agreements with current partners in community networks, organizations, service providers, nonprofits and faith institutions. Identify and elevate new community partnerships prospects to supervisor.
     
    4. Donor Communication and Coordination: Gather detailed records of donor and participant demographics and contact information from website/social media/outreach events, etc. Prepare and coordinate mailings to ensure timely and accurate communication with all stakeholders. 
    5. Departmental Support: Provide graphic design and social media support to various departments as needed.
    6. Grant Publicity: Support in promoting grants received by the organization, ensuring funders are appropriately recognized. Maintain documentation of recognition for grant reporting. 
    7. Additional Duties: Adapt to a variety of tasks as assigned to support the organization’s development and communication goals.
    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
    • Understanding of the importance of consistent branding and messaging within a mission-based Organization.
    • Superior written and verbal skills. Proven ability to write with proper grammar, spelling & punctuation.
    • Writing and editing content for weekly e-newsletter, social media content, print publications, etc. 
    • Leveraging and/or developing print and digital collateral as necessary to reach target audiences.
    • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field.
    • 5+ years’ experience in marketing communications/digital media/graphic design required; experience in event marketing and development preferred.
    • Experience in collateral development and media buying and negotiating.
    • Experience with healthcare communications is ideal.
    • Non-profit experience preferred.
    • Strong time management skills to balance multiple projects in a fast-paced office. 
    • Knowledge of Beaufort and Jasper County, SC area preferred. 
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Publisher), Google Docs, Outlook, Canva, preferred. 
    • Knowledge of Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias, a plus.
    • Organized, detail oriented, learns quickly, and open to change.
    • Ability to represent the Organization effectively to community partners, community leaders, corporate partners.
