Shirl Cave is a former newspaper owner and publisher, Air Force veteran, and business professional. In 2004, she built a media company from scratch that included The Allendale Sun newspaper and Spotlight Allendale, an online platform featuring podcasts, community announcements, and events.
After closing The Allendale Sun in 2015, following ten years of operations, she continued with the online platform while employed as a victim advocate with the 14th Judicial Circuit Solicitor's Office. In 2018, she left that office and established the K.S. Ministries nonprofit organization to spread hope at community nursing homes. The program expanded to reach veterans, farmers, animal helpers, and first responders.
In 2023, the organization's name was officially changed to Petals & Stars, and it now includes various programs that target community groups and families.
Under her moniker, Entrepreneur of Hope, Shirl is a business professional and servant leader spurring an inspirational movement she presents in practical, fun, and engaging ways.
Her determined and deliberate approach to sharing the motivating works of her heart and hands through this nonprofit is now her life's mission.
