Ridgeland Welcomes New James Fisher Memorial Foundation YMCA with April 9 Ribbon Cutting
Ridgeland, SC – After years of planning and community support, Ridgeland will soon celebrate the opening of a new space dedicated to health, safety, and opportunity for local individuals and families.
The Beaufort-Jasper YMCA of the Lowcountry will host a ribbon cutting ceremony at noon on Thursday, April 9, 2026, to mark the opening of the James Fisher Memorial Foundation YMCA, located at 11010 East Argent Parkway in Ridgeland. Community members, local leaders, donors, and YMCA supporters are invited to attend and help welcome this new resource to the community.
The James Fisher Memorial Foundation YMCA was created in response to important needs in the Ridgeland area, including greater access to affordable childcare and a public pool. The new facility will provide a welcoming place where people of all ages can focus on health, build connections, and access programs that support everyday well-being.
At the heart of the new YMCA is an aquatics complex designed to serve the entire community. The facility will offer swim lessons for all ages, as well as recreational swim and aquatic programs. Expanding access to swim lessons and water safety education is a key priority for the YMCA, as drowning prevention and water confidence remain critical skills for families in the Lowcountry.
The YMCA will also provide wellness programs and fitness opportunities that support healthy lifestyles for individuals and families throughout Ridgeland and surrounding communities.
“This facility represents a shared investment in the future of our community,” said Michael Bostwick, Beaufort-Jasper YMCA of the Lowcountry CEO. “From swim lessons that can save lives to childcare that supports working families, the James Fisher Memorial Foundation YMCA will be a place where people come together to learn, grow, and thrive.”
The April 9 ceremony will include remarks from YMCA leaders, community partners, and local officials who helped bring the project to life. Following the ribbon cutting, guests will be invited to tour the new facility.
The James Fisher Memorial Foundation YMCA is part of the Beaufort-Jasper YMCA of the Lowcountry, which serves the region through programs focused on youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.
